TWD - Supporting Women in Male-Dominated Fields Article (1)

Supporting Women in Sport is an Investment in our Future

Everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential – but many women in male-dominated fields, particularly sport, still face hurdles, including lack of opportunity, pay disparity and discrimination.

Here at The Wealth Designers, we’re proud to say that 60% of our team is female, and empowering women on their financial journeys is a core part of our philosophy.

That’s one of the reasons we believe supporting women in sport – financially, professionally and personally – is so important. Here’s why.

Opportunity matters

Women’s sport has come a long way in recent years, but there are still core challenges to overcome.

Many female athletes still earn much less than their male counterparts, receive fewer sponsorship opportunities and have less access to professional pathways. For young girls coming through the ranks, these barriers can make it harder to continue playing the sports they love.

Support comes in many forms

Sponsorships, grants, scholarships and community fundraising offer vital financial support, and can open doors that might otherwise remain closed.

But showing up in other ways is essential too.

Whether it’s coaches who volunteer their time, families driving to early morning training sessions, local clubs investing in girls’ programs, or communities cheering from the sidelines, every bit of support matters.

Sport makes a difference

Sport is valuable in a plethora of ways, especially for young women.

It builds confidence, resilience, leadership, teamwork and lifelong friendships, while also encouraging healthy habits and creating role models for the next generation.

The ripple effect of that can extend off the field and into lives and communities for many years.

Investing in people

We’ve recently been running START WELL® financial literacy workshops for the Afghan Women’s Cricket Team. Watching these remarkable women rebuild their lives while continuing to pursue the sport they love has been a reminder that talent alone isn’t always enough – and support can be the key when it comes to helping someone thrive.

At The Wealth Designers, we believe money is a tool to help you LIVE WELL, as well as something that can be used to make a difference to the lives of other people.

Whether that’s sponsoring a local team, volunteering your time, mentoring a young athlete or simply showing up to women’s sport, every contribution helps build a future where talent – not circumstance – is what helps people achieve their dreams.

Because when we invest in people, everyone wins.
