Mentorship and Raising the Bar in Financial Planning
Earlier this year, The Wealth Designers had the honour of being invited to participate in the School of Accounting, Economics, and Finance (SAEF) Financial Planning Panel and Awards Night, hosted by Curtin University’s Financial Planning Discipline Advisory.
This event highlighted the achievements of the 2023 student cohort, including the announcement of student prize winners, and featured a thought-provoking industry panel discussion.
We believe that community and fostering the next generation of advisers is vital to the future of financial planning in Australia. Supporting students in their journey to become capable and ethical financial planners ensures that the industry continues to thrive. At The Wealth Designers, we recognise that the role we play as mentors and collaborators in the financial community helps shape the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable future.
Our Senior Wealth Adviser, Dawn Thomas, had the privilege of speaking on a panel about career development in financial planning. During the discussion, she shared insights on the evolving landscape of the profession and the skills that aspiring advisers need to succeed. These moments of connection between experienced professionals and the next generation are invaluable, as they help bridge the gap between education and practical application.
The Wealth Designers were also proud to sponsor the Community Service Award, which was awarded to an outstanding student, Jack Hogan. This award represents more than just academic achievement—it recognises individuals who give back to their communities, demonstrating the values of empathy and responsibility that are crucial in financial planning.
By supporting such initiatives, we encourage students to not only excel in their studies but also to understand the broader impact they can have on society.
Looking forward, we are excited to continue our partnership with Curtin University and remain committed to helping support the next generation of financial planners. As the industry grows, we believe that programs like these are essential in raising the standard of financial advice across Australia. We take great pride in being part of this initiative, ensuring that the future of financial planning is in good hands.
